Self-adhesive label – is a label material (paper, film), one side of which is covered with an adhesive layer protected by a backing that is separated before gluing.
Major types of self-adhesive labels:
- Semi-gloss
They can be considered the most common among all varieties of printed products. This is explained by the relatively low price of the material, which reduces the overall cost of the printed production.
- On film
Used in almost all industries. They are more expensive than paper ones, so they are used in cases when it is needed for means of design, reliability or because of specific requirements, for example, an especial usage environment (goods that are used or stored in conditions in high humidity).
Films are divided into two types:
Polyethylene. Used for the production of stickers with a high level of elasticity. This type features a long service life and strong resistance to influence of hostile environment. Is often used for labeling containers.
Polypropylene. They are characterized by high rigidity and density, applied mostly in the production of labels for perfumery goods, cosmetics and food.
- Thermal labels
They are used for marking goods when it is necessary to add any additional information: production date, cost, serial number of a batch, etc.
There are two types of these labels:
Thermo ECO (without protective coating). They are used to mark goods that are not suitable for long-term storage and transportation.
Thermo Top (with 2-sided protective coating). In this case, there are no restrictions on use, so they are used to label various food products that will be stored in difficult conditions. The upper protective layer reliably protects against various contaminants, moisture and mechanical stress.
Labels can be made on an acrylic or rubber adhesive basis. The adhesive base for a label is chosen based on the needs of production and the place of use, depending on the requirements of the application. Each labeled product and label material has its own type of adhesive.
Labels can be produced in various geometric shapes and sizes.
