Thermal transfer printing is a printing method where a printer using thermal head heats the ribbon, which is an ink thermal transfer ribbon, and the ink layer is transferred onto the label surface. When using thermal transfer printing, consumables include labels and thermal transfer ribbon. Printers that use this printing technology are called "thermal transfer printers".
